Asian Soccer Stars shine at Cobham
21/08/2009
The winners of Chelsea’s Asian Soccer Star competition have been making the most of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train at the Cobham training ground.
A’ameer Kstantin Murphy (Under 12 winner), Jordan Sidhu (Under 13 winner) and Jhai Singh Dhillon (Under 14 winner) were given the chance to join in with a Chelsea Academy training session and matches.
The prize was part of the Asian Soccer Star competition that was held back in May, when hundreds of youngsters were judged on a series of matches and tests specifically designed and used by the Chelsea Academy.
The Blues teamed up with The FA, Kick it Out and the Asian Media Group to launch the competition, with stars such as boxer Amir Khan lending their support.
A host of Chelsea players, including Anelka, Cech, Malouda, Kalou and Deco, all went along to watch too.
Jordan took his chance to impress and earned an invite to return for further assessments this week. A’ameer is now playing at Under 13 level and Jhai, despite a troublesome injury, battled on to play part of a game at the sessions.
All the boys agreed it had been an amazing experience and they loved being part of the competition.
If you fancy being part of next year’s competition, keep your eyes open for any information appearing on the site and in the Bridge Kids magazine!
