Burnley 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea sit proudly at the top of the Premier League table this morning as their 3-1 victory over Burnley was enough to put them above Man City on 'goals for'. Jose Mourinho will be hoping his side will still be at the top on the final day of the season!

This was the first competitive game for two of Chelsea's big-name summer signings as Costa and Fabregas both made their competitive debuts. It was also a first competitive start for Courtois in goal after his loan spells at Atletico Madrid.

The game started at a fast and furious pace, with both sides looking to get forward. Chelsea were given a shock after just 14 minutes when Scottish midfield Scott Arfield smashed home a volley from just inside the penalty box.

However, any worries the Blues fans may have had about their side slipping up against newly promoted Burnley were quickly dismissed as Chelsea drew level three minutes later. Ivanovic hit a low shot across the goal, which came back off the post where Costa hammered it into the net for a goal on his debut!

Four minutes later and Chelsea were in front thanks to a stunning team goal. Hazard burst through the Burnley midfield, fed the ball to Ivanovic who played in Fabregas, who hit a stunning first time pass into the path of Schurrle how prodded the ball into the net on the half volley!

The Blues were now in complete control and it was only a matter of time before they added a third goal. It came after 34 minutes when an accurate Fabregas corner kick found Ivanovic in the box and he brilliantly volleyed high into the net to make it 3-1!

The second half saw Chelsea look to shut the game down and make sure of the away victory as Burnley pushed to get back into the match. The Blues didn't have many chances, but they managed to defend well.

The best chance for the home side came to that man Arfield but his excellent left foot shot from distance was matched by a stunning save from Courtois to keep the Blues two goals up. Drogba came on towards the end for his first competitive game since re-signing, and he showed his skills with a brilliant piece of control and snap shot that went narrowly wide.

In the end, Chelsea can be delighted with the win and will be hoping it's the start of a long run of good results for the club!
