Chelsea kept up their good run of form by winning their third straight match in a row against Norwich City yesterday. The Blues have now cut the gap to Man City in second place to just four points as the festive games continue to come thick and fast!
Norwich were always likely to provide tough opposition at Carrow Road, and the Blues had a tough job breaking down the Canaries' defence in the first half. There were few chances for either side early in the half, until Mikel had a powerful long-range shot go just over the bar.
The crucial goal came after 38 minutes and was scored by the Spanish magician Juan Mata. Oscar got the ball on the edge of the area and set up Mata who smashed in a stunning shot with his left foot!
The second half saw Chelsea continue to press for a second goal, and Moses came close with two efforts early in the half.
Norwich were struggling to get through an impressive Chelsea defence, and they didn't create a real chance to score until right at the end of the match. With just seconds remaining Bassong got on the end of a corner, but his header bounced over the bar.
Next up for the Blues is another tricky away match against Everton on Saturday!
