Spain win the Euros
02/07/2012
Euro 2012 came to an exciting end last night as Spain beat Italy to win the competition for the second time in a row. It was also Spain's third major trophy in a row after they also won the World Cup in 2010.
Spain got off to the perfect start when David Silva headed home the opening goal midway through the first half, and then, just before half-time, Jordi Alba made it 2-0 with a cool finish.
As the game came to a close, Spain threw on Chelsea stars Fernando Torres and Juan Mata, and both got their names on the scoresheet! First Torres latched on to a Xavi pass and slid the ball past Buffon, then Torres found Blues teammate Mata with a cross and he swept the ball into the net!
It was the perfect end to the competition for both players, and we'll be hoping they keep their form up for Chelsea in the new season!
