Stoke 0-4 Chelsea

14/01/2013

Chelsea came back to form with a bang on Saturday as they took one of the Premier League's best defences apart with a brilliant attacking performance!

Rafa Benitez brought Ba, Cech and Lamps back into the side while Gary Cahill missed the game as his partner gave birth to his new baby son shortly before kick-off!

Stoke started the game looking to attack, but an early chance for Kenwyne Jones went just wide. Shortly after, Nzonzi had a header which was well held by Cech as the Potters looked to make home advantage pay.

However, it was Chelsea who scored the first goal just before half time. Azpilicueta sent in a cross and under pressure from Mata, Walters sent a powerful header past his own keeper to give the Blues the lead!

Early in the second half, Chelsea had a stroke of luck when a the referee awarded a penalty to Stoke only for his assistant Sian Massey to rule Stoke offside and change his decision. Just after that, it was 2-0 and incredibly Walters scored a second own goal by steering the ball past Begovic with Lampard waiting to pounce!

Chelsea were now on top, and their third goal came after Huth pushed Mata in the box to give the Blues a penalty. Lamps stepped up and smashed home his 194th goal for Chelsea to make 3-0!

With 20 minutes left, Eden Hazard made it four with the goal of the game. The Belgian attacker took the ball, spun and unleashed an incredible shot from 30 yards, which flew into the top corner of the net!

With 10 minutes to go Blues fans were delighted to see JT make his comeback as he replaced Mata. However, he won't have been pleased to have had a penalty given against him for a tackle on Walters. It wasn't Walters' day however, as he blasted his penalty over the bar!

The Blues have now moved back ahead of Spurs into third place and they have a game in hand over Man City in second place.
