Swansea 0-0 Chelsea
The Blues failed to come back from a 2-0 home defeat in the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Swansea. The game ended 0-0, whilst the Blues finished with 10 men after Eden Hazard was sent off.
The draw at the Liberty Stadium sends the Swans into the final to face League Two side Bradford – not many people would have predicted that those two sides would be the ones going to Wembley!
Ba, Oscar, Ramires and Cahill all went close to converting chances, but the Blues just couldn’t hit the back of the net.
Starting up front, Demba Ba was in the action early and had claims for a penalty when Ben Davies put a challenge in, but the referee gave a corner.
Petr Cech was superb all night and made a decent stop after the Swans’ star player Michu was put through on goal. He also had to be at his best later in the game when De Guzman sent a sweet long-range strike arrowing towards the top corner.
Gary Cahill came close to breaching the deadlock but his header was blocked in the goalmouth by Angel Rangel.
The Blues new that if they got one goal back, they would make it a nervous finish for Swansea, but with only 10 men for the last 10 minutes, it wasn’t to be.
