Chelsea 8-0 Aston Villa

24/12/2012

Chelsea stunned Villa yesterday with an incredible 8-0 win at the Bridge! It is Chelsea's biggest win of the season and helps them close the gap on Manchester United to nine points.

It was a day when nearly everyrthing went right for the Blues. The first goal came after just three minutes when a cross from Ivanovic on the right was met by a bullet header from Torres!

Chelsea had more chances to add to their lead, but Guzan seemed to be having a good game. However, just on the half hour mark David Luiz made it 2-0 with a thumping free kick from 20 yards out!

Just before half time Chelsea wrapped the game up. Cahill got on the end of a corner but his shot was saved by Guzan, only for Ivanovic to nod home the rebound!

As the first half ended, Chelsea were looking in control, but know one knew what was coming next as Rafa Benitez's team helped themselves to an early Christmas present with five more goals in the second half!

The next scorer was probably the most popular of the day as Lamps scored his 130th top flight goal for Chelsea to set a new club record! It came when the ball fell to him 25 yards out and he smashed a volley low into the corner of the net!

The fifth goal came from substitute Ramires who cooly slotted home after fellow Brazilian Piazon played him in. Then Oscar (also on as a sub) made it 6-0 with a perfectly taken penalty after he had been pushed over in the box.

It was soon 7-0 when Eden Hazard twisted and turned in the box before rifling in a left foot shot! Incredibly, the Blues even had a penalty saved after this when Piazon's spot kick was tipped over by Guzan!

However, Chelsea weren't to be denied the eight goals, and Ramires got his second of the match after being teed up by Oscar!

It was the perfect start to the festive season, setting the Blues up for the next match away to Norwich on Boxing Day.
