Chelsea Ladies maintain perfect start

09/10/2017

Chelsea Ladies have won every one of there matches so far this season, without conceding a goal!

A 1-0 win over Liverpool Ladies on Saturday followed consecutive 6-0 victories over Bristol City and Sunderland in the Women's Super League.

The Blues also kicked off their European campaign with a win! They beat tough German side Bayern Munich 1-0 in their midweek Women's Champions League match.

In the league, Maren Mjedle leads the way at the top of the scorer's charts, with three goals in three appearances. In Europe, Drew Spence got the vital goal in the home win against Bayern.

The Blues start their FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup campaign in November, but first take on Yeovil Town Ladies at the end of October in their fourth league match of the season.

Chelsea Ladies boss Emma Hayes is pleased with the way that her side has started the season, but knows that their are tough fixtures to come. She talked to the official Chelsea Website after the weekend game.

'To have another clean sheet and a victory validates the decision to keep selecting a different team for every game,' said Hayes. 'The squad are aware of that, they accept they have to produce performances when given the opportunity and we've done exactly what we've needed to get the three points.

'We had a really big game midweek which took a lot out of us and it showed at times, but we knew the game Liverpool would give us; it would be tough and they'd sit a little bit lower, making it difficult to break them down.

'Once we got the goal, for us it remained difficult because they didn't show a lot of ambition going forward, but overall it's a deserved victory.'
