Chelsea 2-3 Burnley

Chelsea had two players sent off as they lost 2-3 to Burnley in their opening game of the season.

Gary Cahill received a straight red after just 14 minutes, which put Burnley in a strong position.

Chelsea managed to stay in the game and still looked threatening, but three Burnley goals before half-time made it even more difficult for the Blues.

New striker Alvaro Morata came on just before the hour mark and made an instant impact, scoring nine minutes after joining the action.

Chelsea grew into the game after the goal, and N'Golo Kante and David Luiz both had chances. However, another sending off, this time Cesc Fabregas getting a second yellow, meant a comeback was almost impossible.

The Blues kept coming, however, and David Luiz managed to score another goal in the 88th minute, but it was too late for Chelsea to earn a draw, let alone win.

The Blues' next match is a tough away trip to last year's runners up Tottenham Hotspur, so Conte will need to get his team back in a winning frame of mind this week.
