The Chelsea Ladies can’t be stopped!

03/04/2018

It’s been a great couple of weeks for the Chelsea Ladies!

Not only did they draw with Arsenal at the weekend to put themselves three points clear at the top of the Women’s Super League, they also made club history by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time!

On top of this, the Ladies are also in the semi-finals for the FA Cup! So they could pick up all three trophies by the end of the season.

The Champions League victory happened last Wednesday after the Ladies beat Montpellier 3-1 (5-1 on aggregate).

It was a really exciting game, and we got off to the perfect start! Fran Kirby scored within the opening four minutes thanks to a left-footed shot after a misplaced pass from a Montpellier defender.

The visiting team managed to get an equaliser in the 36th minute, but early into the second half, Kirby saw an opportunity and threaded a perfect through-ball to Ramona Bachmann who curled it into the goal.

With the advantage on Chelsea’s side, Kirby continued to dominate the game, and netted a penalty which sealed the victory for the Ladies! They’ll face Wolfsburg in the semi-finals.

In the Women’s Super League, the Ladies remain unbeaten after sealing a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Kirby was on hand once again to score the only Chelsea goal, after Bachmann capitalised on a keeper error to nicely cross the ball into the box.

Arsenal’s goal came in the second minute of first-half stoppage time.

The table currently stands with Chelsea top by three points, with Man City in second. If we continue our brilliant run of form the league could be ours!

On top of all of this, the Blues Ladies also managed to fight their way to the semi-finals of the Women’s FA Cup, after a brilliant 3-0 victory at Liverpool!

Goals from Jonna Anderson, Katie Chapman and Maren Mjelde were too much for the Liverpool home team, setting up a quarter-final clash with Man City on April 15th.

It’s safe to say that Chelsea Ladies are one of the most exciting teams around at the moment!
