Blues lose narrowly to Man City

Despite defending brilliantly all match, Chelsea couldn't stop Premier League leaders Manchester City from scoring a goal in a one-nil loss at the Etihad.

It was never going to be an easy game, with Pep Guardiola's side only losing once all season.

With N'Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko injured Cesc Fabregas and Danny Drinkwater were the only choice in midfield, with Drinkwater making his second start of the season. David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu were also out injured.

The Blues started the game by defending well, protecting Thibaut Courtois's goal against the home side in the opening fifteen minutes.

However, it took a brilliant bit of defending from Azpilicueta to stop City from opening the scoring, when the defender cleared Leroy Sane's shot off the line!

Soon after that, Chelsea could have been awarded a free-kick when Willian was brought down after latching onto a brilliant pass from Fabregas, but the referee waved play on.

The first half remained goalless, but City took advantage of Chelsea's slow start to the second-half when Bernado Silva scored thanks to a lucky bounce on the edge of the Chelsea area.

With Man City in such an attacking mood, it was never going to be easy to come back from being a goal down. We gave it a good effort though, after Fabregas slipped an impressive ball into the path of Victor Moses, who unfortunately sliced the ball wide.

The rest of the game proved difficult for Conte's men, with City having most of the possession and the Blues defending as much as they could.

It was always going to be tough for the Blues to take points away from Manchester in the last two matches, but now it's time for Chelsea to try to turn it around next week against Crystal Palace.
