Blues to host Forest in FA Cup

The Blues begin their FA Cup campaign against Nottingham Forest in the third round, after winning the trophy last year.

Chelsea beat Manchester United in the final to lift their eighth FA Cup trophy, thanks to an Eden Hazard penalty.

Forest are familiar opponents to the Blues. In fact, the two sides faced each other just over a year ago in the third round of the League Cup, a match that Chelsea won 5-1.

The last time the two sides played an FA Cup match was in 2007, which Chelsea won 3-0. Before then, it was a 2-0 win for the Blues in 2000.

In fact, Chelsea have never lost to Forest in the FA Cup. The best the Nottingham side have managed is a draw in 1934, but the Blues won the replay 3-0.

The draw was broadcast live by the BBC, and Chelsea legends Ruud Gullit and Gianfranco Zola, who is now assistant manager, were there.

The third round ties will take place between the 4th and 7th January 2019.
