Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0!

Alvaro Morata scored two second half goals to get Chelsea off to the perfect start in the FA Cup!

Having won the tournament last season, the Blues were under pressure to defend their title! After a decent - but goal-less - first half, Morata teamed up with Hudson-Odoi to get two goals and seal the victory for Chelsea!

The team was strong. Willy Caballero started in goal, with Andres Christensen, David Luiz, Zappacosta and Emerson sitting in front of him in defence. Skipper Fabregas was in central midfield, alongside Ampadu, Barkley and Loftus-Cheek.

Star attackers Willian, Pedro and Giroud were unavailable, so our attacking threat came from Morata and Hudson-Odoi!

Though the first half was without goals, it didn’t stop it being exciting! The Blues had opportunities from an early stage, with Hudson-Odoi looking threatening from the start! He made a dangerous run but was unable to pick out a player in the box.

Zappacosta fired in a great cross, which Morata nicely got his head to, Forest keeper Steele did well to pull off the important save however. Soon after, the Blues were awarded a free-kick which Emerson curled inches over the bar. So close!

With Chelsea bossing possession, we had the chance to take the lead on the half hour mark when Forest Captain Danny Fox brought down Loftus-Cheek in the box. Penalty to Chelsea!

Fabregas stepped up and fired it to the right, only for Steele to save to low-drive to prevent the Blues from taking the lead.

With the first half lacking in goals, it wasn’t going to take long for Chelsea to change this in the second. In fact, it only took three minutes for Chelsea to get their first goal!

Hudson-Odoi made a fantastic run down the right, beating Forest players with his brilliant pace before sending a perfect ball across goal for Morata to sweep into the near post! 1-0 Chelsea!

With the confidence and momentum well on Chelsea’s side, it only took ten minutes for the Blues to double their lead.

Similar to the first goal, it was Hudson-Odoi who managed to beat the Forest players and send in a cross for Morata, who this time got his head to the ball and send it into the bottom corner.

These two goals put us firmly in the driving seat, and there was no sign of any slip ups from here! We will find out who Chelsea get in the next round on Monday night!
