Ladies beat Gunners in London derby

Chelsea Ladies beat Arsenal Women 3-2 in their first Women's Super League match of 2018!

It was a thrilling London derby for the Ladies, who scored the first goal thanks to Maren Mjelde. The Norwegian international poked it home after Chelsea had hit the woodwork twice in the space of a few seconds.

The Blues took their lead into the break, but ten minutes into the second-half Arsenal equalised.

Chelsea goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl managed to get to the ball, but could only deflect it off the post and in.

It didn't matter, though, as Chelsea were ahead again less than five minutes later!

Ji So-Yun got the goal, nutmegging an Arsenal defender with her low shot.

But Arsenal came back, equalising just after the hour-mark to make it 2-2, with three goals scored in under ten minutes!

Both teams were on the hunt for a winner, but Chelsea Ladies were the ones who created it!

New signing Jonna Andersson set it up with one of her first touches as a Chelsea footballer, firing in a dangerous cross which one of the Gunners defenders dragged into her own net!

The win means that the Blues stay just two points behind WSL 1 leaders Manchester City in second.

The two sides actually face each other on Sunday in the FA WSL Cup. Keep an eye on BridgeKids this week for a full match preview!
