Chelsea Ladies put seven past Liverpool

Chelsea Ladies hammered FA Women's Super League leaders Liverpool 7-0 on Sunday, putting them in a strong position for tonight's match against Bristol City Women.

The Blues are only one point behind Liverpool and have a game in hand, which they will play tonight.

Gilly Flaherty, Fran Kirby, Ji So-Yun, Maren Mjelde, Karen Carney, Erin Cuthbert and Drew Spence all found the net in the last Chelsea Ladies game to be played at Wheatsheaf Park, before the Ladies move to Kingsmeadow next season.

Flaherty opened the scoring early on with a clever header to direct a corner past Liverpool's goalkeeper.

Carney, who crossed in for the first goal, set up the second for Kirby as well, before Davison sped into space to set up the third, which Ji finished easily.

Chelsea continued their incredible attacking play in the second half. Ji set up Mjelde soon after half-time to score a fourth goal. Bachmann then scored Chelsea's fifth just after coming on for Kirby.

Cuthbert came on a few minutes later, and scored her own goal 12 minutes after coming on. Spence wrapped up the win with an easy tap-in six minutes from the final whistle.

It's the third time this season, in league and cup, that Chelsea have won a match 7-0!

'It was a near faultless performance overall. The goals featured some wonderful creative play, with multiple goalscorers, and it's always a tough decision to select my team for every game,' said manager Emma Hayes after the match.

The Blues now have two away matches against Bristol City and Birmingham City, knowing that two wins would secure them the top of the table at the end of the Spring Series.

Manchester City are level with them on points, but have a goal difference of eight compared to Chelsea's 23!

Bristol City Women versus Chelsea Ladies kicks off at 7:05pm tonight. Check out BridgeKids tomorrow for a full match report.
