Chelsea beat Liverpool 1-0!

Liverpool's trip to Stamford Bridge ended with a Blues victory thanks to a header from Olivier Giroud!

Chelsea continued their recent run of amazing form, winning their fifth match in a row! If we keep on like this, a top 4 finish could well be on the cards!

Though it was the Blues who finished victorious, Liverpool were the first to attack. Thibaut Courtois was forced to make a save after Roberto Firmino attempted on goal after a long ball.

It didn't take long for the Blues to fight back. Previous Liverpool loanee Victor Moses sent the ball towards the penalty spot, where Tiemoue Bakayoko and Giroud were sat waiting. Giroud didn't quite get there in time though, and was thwarted by Liverpool's defence!

Soon after, Liverpool looked to be on for a chance of goal, with Sadio Mane making a threatening run on the break. Thankfully, N'Golo Kante was there to save the day once again, with an amazing sliding challenge!

Mane again got close to goal halfway through the first half, but a Courtois dive was good enough to beat Mane's clean strike.

After another try at goal from the Liverpool forward, the Blues launched a great counter attack! Marcos Alonso fed the ball to Moses, who then crossed the ball to Bakayoko, who hit the ball just wide. It was unlucky, but what came next was exactly what we needed!

Moses received the ball out on the wing, before tricking a Liverpool defender to cross the ball neatly into the penalty area, where Giroud was waiting to header the ball beyond the Liverpool keeper into the back of the net!

The rest of the half played out with attacks from both teams, but neither was enough to add to the goal tally.

Moses and Giroud continued to link up at the start of the second half, with Moses sending in another cross to Giroud. This time though, it wasn't on target.

Eden Hazard was once again on top form, and managed to weave his way through loads of Liverpool players before having a shot on goal! Liverpool's keeper managed to hit it out for a corner.

What happened next looked to be another Chelsea goal, but Rudiger's header was ruled offside. So close!

Though Liverpool played well in the second half, it was Alonso who nearly scored again, this time with an amazing strike! It was close, but not close enough.

In the end, it didn't matter though! Giroud's first half header was enough to win us all three points, and continue our push for a top four finish!
