Jamal Blackman keeps clean sheet

Even though the Premier League season hasn't started yet, there has been plenty of action to interest Chelsea fans around Europe - and not just in the Community Shield!

The EFL season started on Friday, while a number of Chelsea players also featured in matches around the continent.

Jamal Blackman had a great start to life as a Championship goalkeeper. The young shotstopper has been loaned out to Sheffield United this season, after a successful spell with Wycombe Wanderers last year.

The Blades, who were promoted to the Championship this season after winning League One, beat Brentford w-0 in their first match, and Blackman made some important saves.

Also in the Championship, Ola Aina and Michael Hector faced former Chelsea captain John Terry as Hull drew with Aston Villa. Tomas Kalas was also in a draw, for Fulham, while Ike Ugbo lost with Barnsley in his first senior appearance.

In mainland Europe, Charlie Colkett scored from the spot in a penalty shoot-out for Vitesse, but they still lost the Dutch Super Cup to Feyenoord. Fankaty Dabo also featured for Vitesse.

Marco van Ginkel, who is on loan with another Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven, played as his side was beaten in the Europa League by NK Osijek.

Mario Pasalic and Danilo Pantic also played in league matches in Europe, Pasalic with Russian side Spartak Moscow and Pantic in a 1-0 win for Partizan Belgrade.
