Chelsea held by Norwich City

Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Championship side Norwich City on Saturday in the FA Cup.

Blues fans can now look forward to a replay at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 16 January, which could be on TV.

Antonio Conte named David Luiz in his starting line-up, in the Brazilian’s first match on his return from a knee injury.

He was in a back three with Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill, protecting Willy Caballero in goal. It was a good evening for the defence, who kept a clean sheet.

Davide Zappacotta and Kenedy were on the wings, while Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater started in midfield. Willian and Pedro supported Michy Batshuayi up front.

The bench was full of young Blues, With Ethan Ampadu, Jake Clarke-Salter, Dujon Sterling, Charly Musonda and Callum Hudson-Odoi all ready for a substitution. Eduardo and Alvaro Morata were also on the substitutes bench.

The visitors had the most chances, and almost gave the travelling fans something to cheer at Carrow Road with the first big opportunity, but Drinkwater sliced his shot wide.

At the other end, Caballero was called into action to smother a cross.

Kenedy then tested the Norwich defence with a shot from outside the area, which was deflected wide.

Chelsea piled on the pressure at the start of the second-half. Batshuayi came to life and had two shots on goal, but both were saved. Willian then created a chance for himself, tricking his way into a shooting position with his quick feet, but Norwich goalie Angus Gunn made a smart save.

Norwich came back, and Caballero was called on to punch away a free-kick.

Conte brought on Morata and Musonda to switch things up, before giving Dujon Sterling his Chelsea debut, but the Blues still couldn’t make the breakthrough.

Next up is the first leg of Chelsea’s League Cup semi-final match against Arsenal on Wednesday night. Keep an eye on BridgeKids for a preview!
