Chelsea 2-1 Palace

Thanks to a great goal from Willian and an own-goal from Martin Kelly, Chelsea got all three points in an important game in the Premier League.

Chelsea completely dominated the first-half, with Willian finding the back of the net in the 25th minute!

The skilful Brazilian took a pass from Kante, drifted into the centre, shimmying past two defenders, before a striking the ball with his right foot, taking a small deflection from Martin Kelly on its way in.

With the pressure on, our second goal came soon after the first. Fabregras passed the ball out to Alonso, whose cross was dummied by Willian and picked up by Hazard. He then neatly teed up the ball for Zappacosta. The defender’s shot was cleared off the line by Martin Kelly, but was then blocked by the keeper, and bounced back into the goal!

Though it was an unlucky goal for Palace to concede, the piece of play leading up to it was brilliant. Especially by Willian, who’s now scored five goals in five games for the Blues!

And the Blues could have scored more! Nearing half-time, Fabregas, Willian and Hazard worked together to set up a Giroud, who was so close to scoring, but James Tomkins somehow managed to clear it off the line.

This lead to a corner, which Hazard managed to get into the net, however it was ruled offside, meaning Chelsea finished the first-half two goals up.

Palace became more attacking in the second-half due to the return of Wilfred Zaha, who nearly scored in the 49th minute. Luckily his shot hit the post!

Conte’s team then put the pressure back on, and Willian nearly scored again, this time from a direct free-kick, which forced a save from Palace keeper Hennessey.

Shortly after, we just missed scoring a third! Giroud’s shot hit the post after a clever pass from Alonso.

After a really good game from the Blues, they were unlucky to let in a goal in the 90th minute, when Van Aanholt tucked one though Courtois’s legs.

It didn’t end up mattering though, as Chelsea secured the victory!
