Match Report: Chelsea 4-0 PAOK

After losing to Spurs earlier on in the week, Sarri’s men confidently bounced back to winning ways, meaning that the Blues have won five European matches in a row! It’s the first time a Chelsea squad have done this since 2011!

Kepa Arrizabalaga was the only player to keep his starting place in the squad since the Spurs match, with Sarri making 10 changes!

The match started with a big decision from the ref, who gave a red card to PAOK centre-back Yevhan Khacheridi after he fouled Giroud when he was in on goal. It was the correct decision, and was bad news for the visiting side.

The 10-man PAOK side managed to hold on 20-minutes before Chelsea got the better of them, and it was French striker that scored first! Fabregas put in a perfect long pass to Pedro, who rolled it towards Giroud, who then placed a first-time shot into the corner.

The Blues were off! And it didn’t take long for them to double their lead! Less than ten minutes later, Fabregas sent in an inch-perfect lofted through-ball to Giroud, who perfectly volleyed the ball past the keeper! Great goal!

The first half continued without much incident, but more goals were coming in the second!

As the two teams battled it out, it was clear that Chelsea were on top. In the 56th minute, Ruben Loftus-Cheek made a great run and attempted a shot, only for the PAOK keeper to make a fine save.

The keeper couldn’t hold on for the next attempt though, as Hudson-Odoi took advantage of another great pass from Fabregas and skipped it over the keeper. There was nothing Paschalakis could do. 3-0 to Chelsea!

With the momentum well and truly on Chelsea’s side, Morata took full advantage of a great cross from Hudson-Odoi and powerfully headered the ball into the net to make it 4-0 for the home side!

A great result for the Blues, who next face Fulham at home. Read the full match preview HERE.
