Stat Attack: Antonio Conte

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte won the Premier League in his first year in English football.

But his success should have come as no surprise to football fans, after his dominance in Italian football as a manager.

Did you know?
Conte gained promotion with only the second team he ever managed!

The Blues boss oversaw Italian side Bari's promotion to the Serie A in 2008/09.

After winning Serie B with Bari, Conte was awarded the Panchina d'Argento, which is Italian for 'Silver Bench': a prize given to the best manager of the Serie B season.

Just two years later Conte steered another Italian side to the top flight, finishing second in Serie B with Siena.

These two successes saw Conte given the reins at top Italian side Juventus, the team where he had made his name as a player.

In his playing days, Conte featured in almost 300 matches for Juve, and won 20 Italy caps.

Did you know? Juventus became the first team in the expanded Serie A to finish the season unbeaten in Conte's first year in charge!

The manager then went on to win the next two seasons with Juventus, as well as the Supercoppa Italiana twice.

Thanks to his success with Juventus, Conte was also awarded the Panchina d'Oro, which is Italian for 'Gold Bench'. It is given to the best manager in Serie A.

Did you know? Conte is the only manager to win both the Panchina d'Argento and the Panchina d'Oro!

Conte next became Italy manager, leading the national side to a Euro 2016 quarter-final!

After Italy, Conte was announced as the new boss of Chelsea, where he won 78.7% of his matches in his first season and took home the Premier League title!
