Chelsea transfer news!

09/08/2018

It’s been a busy couple of days for the Blues, with some very exciting players joining the squad!

In an agreement with Real Madrid, Courtois has left to join the Spanish club. We wish the him all the best!

As part of the deal, Croatian international Mateo Kovacic joins us for a season long loan!

Kovacic plays as a central midfielder, and has got bags of experience from playing in the Spanish and Italian leagues, as well as for his international team. He played five games for Croatia in the recent World Cup!

After signing his contract at Chelsea, Kovacic said, ‘I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season.”

The Croatian midfielder is a really exciting signing for the Blues. He combines hard work with skill in possession and penetrative passing, and can play anywhere across the midfield.

In place of Courtois in goal, the Blues have signed Spanish international goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga!

The 23-year-old has joined on a seven-year contract, and describes the move as a ‘very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life.’

He continued, 'So many things attracted me to the club, all the titles the club has won, the other players, the city, the English Premier League. It’s an accumulation of things, and I am very glad Chelsea has decided to trust me and to take me in as well.’

Kepa has played over 100 career league games, and made such an impression in the Spanish league that he earned himself an international call up in the recent World Cup!

He possesses fantastic reflexes and has developed his all-round game since establishing himself as Athletic Bilbao’s first-choice ‘keeper two years ago. He’s a great shot-stopper, and is confident with the ball at his feet and capable of playing out from the back, even under pressure.

We’re incredibly excited to watch him light up the Premier League this season!
