UEFA Youth League win for Blues

Chelsea's Under-19 team ran out 3-1 winners against Atletico Madrid's youth side on Thursday in their second UEFA Youth League match of the season.

Quickfire goals from Charlie Brown and Dujon Sterling put the Blues ahead after just ten minutes, but Atleti came back with a penalty to cut the lead in half.

Chelsea quickly regained the two-goal lead however with a brilliant individual goal from Jacob Maddox.

George McEachran bossed the midfield throughout the game alongside Maddox.

The two-time champions of the competition have started this year's campaign with two great wins, first against Qarabag and then against Atleti.

‘It was a decent performance but a fantastic result for us,’ told the official Chelsea website. ‘The boys carried out the game plan well and there were some great individual performances as well. Charlie Brown led the line really well up front and Jacob Maddox with George McEachran were superb in central midfield. It was a strong performance too from Dujon Sterling and Reece James as a pair down the right side.

‘Ultimately, the performance was a bit secondary for us. This is a group with three big teams in it and we want to make sure we progress so to come away to Atletico and get three points is a massive result.’

Next up in the competition for the Under-19s are Roma.
